"The Beetle" is a horror novel written and published by Richard Marsh in 1897. The story is somewhat disturbing: an ancient Egyptian spirit wants revenge on an influential English politician. The whole novel is written in a very complex way, in fact, the story is told from four different points of view. The narrators are 4 distinct characters: Robert Holt, Sydney Atherton, Marjorie Lindon and Augustus Champnell. Thus, while Detective Champnell collects testimony and notes clues, Holt, an ex-businessman with financial problems, while looking for a new job, remains mesmerized by a strange and very disturbing beetle. A compelling, disturbing and mysterious work, full of twists.
