Charles Perrault (1628 - 1703) was a French author. A pioneer of the fairy-tale genre, his stories are based upon traditional folk tales. Amongst his most famous stories are ‘Puss in Boots', ‘Little Red Riding Hood’, ‘Cinderella’, and ‘Sleeping Beauty'. These tales have been adapted to both the stage and the screen countless times, most famously by Disney and their animated films such as ‘Cinderella’ and ‘Sleeping Beauty’ which remain classics for children today.
