Aage Dons (1903-1993) blev født på Svanholm Gods i Hornsherred, men følte sig aldrig hjemme i sit miljø, hvilket ses i hans forfatterskab, hvor han interesserer sig for ‘outsideren‘. Efter at have forsøgt sig både som sanger og skuespiller debuterede Dons i 1935 med den delvist selvbiografiske roman "Koncerten". Allerede her viste han sine talenter for komposition og en kosmopolitisk orientering, skabt af Dons‘ mange rejseerfaringer. Dons modtog i 1951 De Gyldne Laurbær og i 1973 Kritikerprisen.
