1800-luvulla seppä Abraham Pääkkönen kiinnostui lentämisestä. Hän myös toteutti unelmansa ja ryhtyi rakentamaan lentolaitetta. Hänet tunnettiin kotiseudullaan nimellä Pääkkösseppä tai Aapa Jylhä. Hän nautti siitä, että sai kuulijansa nauramaan. Siksi hän usein kertoi tarinoitaan hiukan hopeassa. Tiukka totuus ei aina ollut pääasia. Näitä tarinoita on kerrottu parinsadan vuoden kuluessa useasti ja jokainen kertoja on antanut niihin oman lisänsä. Nykyään on lähes mahdotonta tietää, mikä noissa tarinoissa oli totta ja mikä ei.
