The ways in which we deal with the environment have become a central topic as well in the sciences and academia, as in society in recent years. Not only debates over sustainability, but also many specific (global) challenges such as how to manage resources or climate change have made this very clear. This volume places the questions and issues that arise on four different levels: basic research in environmental ethics; environmental ethics and the political and legal field; ecological challenges and their ethical aspects; and cultural aspects of environmental ethics. The volume is completed by a view on the prospects for a future ethics of the environment.
