The Phantom of the Opera is a work of Gothic fiction by French author Gaston Leroux. It is the story of the Palais Garnier opera house, which is believed to be haunted by a ghost. A young soprano, Christine Daae, surprises everyone with her performance one night, and the Phantom of the Opera becomes obsessed with her. The managers of the opera house receive a letter, requesting that Christine play the lead role in the production of Faust. The letter is ignored, with horrible consequences.
