Shejkis heter egentligen Jaques, men det är ingen som kan uttala hans riktiga namn så därför kallar han sig för Shejkis. Hans mamma är från Frankrike och hans pappa är från Italien, men han har varit död länge nu. Hon flyttade till Sverige 1980 och har sedan dess ägnat sig åt teater, dans och skrivandet. Marie debuterade som författare 2003 med ungdomsboken "Tjaba Shejkis" och 2015 vann hon Barnens romanpris för "Den blomstertid nu kommer".
