Reijo Ruotsalainen (s.1960) on yksi legendaarisimmista suomalaisista jääkiekkoilijoista. Hän aloitti uransa Oulun Kärpissä ja pelasi myös SM-liigassa Kärppien riveissä. Ruotsalaista houkuteltiin jo varhain pelaamaan Yhdysvaltoihin, mutta hän siirtyi NHL:ään vasta 1980-luvun alussa. Ruotsalainen pelasi NHL:ssä lyhyen mutta voitokkaan uran New York Rangersissa, Edmonton Oilersissa ja New Jersey Devilsissä. "Reksa, kaukalon ammattilainen" on ainutlaatuinen katsaus Ruotsalaisen merkittävään uraan. Jorma Kurvinen (1931–2002) oli suomalainen kirjailija, joka tunnetaan erityisesti "Susikoira Roi" -nuortenkirjasarjasta. Kurvinen julkaisi myös aikuisten romaaneja. Hän työskenteli toimittajana Uudessa Oulussa ja kaunokirjallisuutta julkaisevassa Nyyrikissä, mutta jäi päätoimiseksi kirjailijaksi vuonna 1978. Kurvinen sai Valtion kirjallisuuspalkinnon kolmesti.
