Useat hahmot ovat tuttuja kyseisestä sarjasta, mutta kirja on luettavissa myös itsenäisenä teoksena. Paavo Rintala (1930–1999) oli suomalainen kirjailija. Hän kirjoitti näytelmiä, kuunnelmia ja kaunokirjallisia romaaneja. Uransa aikana hän sai kirjallisuuden valtionpalkinnon useina vuosina. Hänet palkittiin myös Runeberg-palkinnolla vuonna 1994.
