Om samlingen skrev Bonniers litterära magasin i februari 1932: ”Novellerna gåvo en skarpögd och leende påminnelse om det artificiella och bräckliga i all skyddad tillvaro, uppburen vare sig av staten, förmögenheten eller en mans makt och vilja.” Sigfrid Siwertz (1882-1970) var en svensk författare, poet och ledamot av Svenska Akademien i nästan fyrtio år.
