Alt fra åbningstaler i Folketinget og på Det Konservative Folkepartis landsrådsmøder over debatindlæg i aviser og festtaler til Kongehusets medlemmer og udenlandske statsoverhoveder til alle elleve nytårstaler fra statsministertiden, også den fra 1983, som ikke blev holdt.<br><br>Poul Schlüter (f. 1929) var Danmarks statsminister fra 1982-93. Han er uddannet jurist i 1957 og blev efterfølgende advokat i 1960. Den politiske karriere begyndte i Konservativ Ungdom, hvor han var formand 1952-55. I 1964 blev han valgt ind i Folketinget for Det Konservative Folkeparti. Han overtog statsministerposten efter socialdemokraten Anker Jørgensen, der var trådt tilbage uden at udskrive folketingsvalg. Den sidste del af Schlüters regeringstid var præget af den langvarige tamilsag, der til sidst fik ham til at gå af og overlade regeringsmagten til Poul Nyrup Rasmussen.
