Psychosophy
The Discipline for the Develompent of the New Humanism in the 21st Century
Beschrijving van het boek
PsychoSophy is a neologism used since 1991 (Presutti, 1991) to identify an innovative discipline and methodology for the study and research in the field of the human mind and psycho-social relationships between people, experimented since the 1990s with numerous experiences and publications.
The discipline 'PsychoSophy' could only come into being towards the end of the 20th century with the enormous development in the field of Science of Mind and Human Sciences, since it would otherwise be confused with:
- - the beliefs and practices of psychism,
- - the doctrines and theories of Philosophy, Religion and Spiritualism.
Therefore, PsychoSophy cannot be associated with, for example, Anthroposophy and/or Rudolf Steiner's Theosophy since the latter are based on esoteric-animist conceptions of Psychism and therefore do not agree with the scientific, epistemological, methodological and implementation concepts of PsychoSophy (Presutti, 2022a).
Thus, since the end of the 20th century, studies and research on Man's psychic activities have been determined by different types of doctrines and disciplines, which differ on a conceptual, gnoseological-epistemological, methodological and instrumental level:
1. Psychism is based on esoteric-animist doctrines characterised by philosophical-religious-spiritualist conceptions and beliefs (Presutti, 2022b);
2. PsychoLogy is a discipline with an experimental-verifiable method, that studies, researches and tests mental and cognitive structures and processes, through logical reasoning, analysis-synthesis, rational deduction, activity classification, systematic categorisation in the validation of pathways and results;
3. PsychoSophy is a discipline with an introspective heuristic method, that studies, researches and experiments with psychic structures and processes through reflection and mental imagination, empathic involvement, interactive observation-listening.
PsychoLogy and PsychoSophy are two disciplines of study, research and intervention that have reciprocal and complementary functions and characteristics just as the heuristic method and introspective reflection-imagination used by PsychoSophy have different characteristics and functions from the verifiable experimental method based on logical reasoning of PsychoLogy.
The book presents the epistemological characteristics of Psychosophy as a discipline of study, research and application in the field of the human psyche.
This book is a synthesis of the theoretical model and methodological conception concerning:
- PsychoSophy as a discipline for studying and researching psychic processes and the brain structures of the human mind,
- the Emotional Categories that form the Psychic System of the World of Emotions,
- the formation and development of the Emotional and Values Concepts of the Psychic Universe,
- the characteristics of the MetaEmotional System and Symbolic Metacommunication,
- the function and characteristics of the Unconscious Emotions of the Emotion World and the Conscious Emotions of the Psychic Universe,
- the different characteristics and methodologies between Psychism, the discipline of PsychoLogy and that of PsychoSophy;
- the historical development of Psychological Sciences, PsychoLogy and PsychoSophy,
- PsychoSophy as a discipline to Knowing Oneself,
- the 4 psychic routes to Knowing Oneself: the Psychic Universe, the World of Emotions, Structure of Personality, PsychoSocial Attitudes.
