A second chance Scottish romance set on the picturesque Isle of Skye

Aspiring writer Brooke Sinclair dreams of seeing her words in print, which she should have thought of five years ago before falling for her teaching assistant and being driven out of uni when their illicit romance came to light. When her ailing mentor, Professor McCallister, asks her to co-write her memoir, she jumps at the chance. Her insistence that Brooke hike the rugged, eighty-mile Skye Trail for authenticity's sake is the least of her worries - the photographer she hired is none other than Jack Sutherland, Professor McCallister's nephew and the TA who broke Brooke's heart. But she won't let Jack stand in the way of reaching her dreams a second time.

Between falling for a student despite University policy and leaving his family's tour guiding business, Jack has a long history of letting people down. But he can't ignore his aunt's last wishes, even if acting as guide and storyteller for the one who got away might very well destroy him. The chance to make things right with Brooke outweighs the pain of finding the feelings that made him beyond reckless haven't lessened with time.

Jack and Brooke set off on the Skye Trail, facing inclement weather, indignant hairy coos, and years of unspoken hurts. In the solitude of the sweeping Scottish landscape, the cozy inns and the heat of whisky around the campfire, Brooke and Jack are forced to confront the roles they played in their break-up - and ask themselves if a second chance at love is worth the risk of picking up the pieces all over again.
