In 1995 was het eindelijk zo ver: American football stak de oceaan over om Europa warm te krijgen voor de sport. De National Football League (NFL) introduceerde professioneel American football en alles wat daarbij hoort. De Amsterdam Admirals en de gehele World League of American Football  waaraan zes Europese teams deelnamen  trokken alles uit de kast; met Amerikaanse spelers, een Amerikaanse show en Amerikaanse normen en waarden. Duizenden supporters in Nederland vielen als een blok voor dit schitterende spektakel. Na dertien seizoenen en talloze pogingen om de sport populair te maken in Europa trok de NFL op 29 juni 2007 de stekker uit de competitie. Daarmee kwam ook een einde aan de Admirals. Het was het einde van een organisatie, maar niet het einde van een gevoel dat duizenden supporters jarenlang met elkaar deelden: het was hun club, hun sport en hun liefde.
