Varför är sanningen så farlig? År 1995 dog 41-årige Osmo Vallo i en förort till Karlstad i samband med att han omhändertagits av polisen. Vittnen berättade om hur polisen bussade en hund på honom och trampade honom över ryggen. De hörde ett knakande ljud, och strax därefter var han livlös. Vid obduktionen fann rättsläkarna hundbett och blessyrer, men dödsorsaken angavs som stress och drogpåverkan. Osmos mor inledde en envis kamp mot myndigheterna för att få fram sanningen om vad som egentligen hänt. Slutligen genomfördes en andra obduktion, följd av eftergranskningar, bortslarvade kroppsdelar, bråk mellan experter och omfattande rapporter. Jovan Rajs, professor i rättsmedicin, fick i uppdrag att utföra en tredje obduktion av Osmo Vallo. I sin bok utreder han händelserna kring Osmos död.
