Sådan var det over det meste af verden, men med romanen "Vestenvind" sætter forfatter Martin Jensen disse temaer under lup, når han skildrer livet og zoomer ind på problemerne i det jyske Harrested sogn. Særligt sognets unge – både de stillestående, de harmoniske og de hæmningsløse – spiller en stor rolle i romanen, der indbragte Martin Jensen Kollegernes Ærespris i 1943.<br><br>Den danske forfatter Martin Jensen (1908-1945) voksede op i en fattig, indremissionsk familie i Thy og blev senere socialist og skarp kritiker af enhver form for religiøst hykleri. Han debuterede som forfatter i tidsskriftet "Vild Hvede" og udgav sin første digtsamling, "Hjertets Uro", i 1933. Det litterære gennembrud kom med den samfundskritiske roman "Vestenvind" i 1942.
