Basic Arabic

This audio-based course is designed to introduce learners to Modern Standard Arabic (MSA), the standardized and literary variety of Arabic used in writing and formal speech throughout the Arab world. MSA is the lingua franca of the Arab world, bridging communication across different dialects and serving as the language of media, literature, and academia. Understanding MSA not only opens up a rich cultural and historical tapestry but also provides practical advantages in professional and personal settings, facilitating engagement with a diverse and dynamic region.

Over six sessions, the course emphasizes comprehension and pronunciation, guiding learners to effectively listen and replicate the sounds of MSA without the complexity of grammar rules. This approach is tailored to create a solid foundation in the language, making it accessible for absolute beginners or those with minimal exposure to Arabic.

Each session is constructed to gradually build the listener's ability to understand and speak MSA, focusing on practical vocabulary, common phrases, and essential language structures. The course aims to develop accurate listening skills and clear pronunciation, both essential components for effective communication.

The course is structured to ensure a progressive learning experience, starting from the basics and advancing to more complex conversations. Interactive exercises and repetition are key components, reinforcing learning and aiding in the retention of material covered.

Upon completion of the course, learners are expected to reach a level between A1 and A2 on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
