Brokiga iakttagelser [1919] är en samling aforismer, som Edith Södergran troligtvis skrev under loppet av några år: ämnena är många och olika varandra. Men ett dominerande tema är människans öde. Influenserna från Friedrich Nietzsche, som tydligt märks i bokens övermänniskoideal, återfinns även i de diktsamlingar som ligger närmast i tid: Septemberlyran [1918] och Rosenaltaret [1919].<br><br>EDITH SÖDERGRAN [1892–1923] hör till de allra största namnen i svenskspråkig poesi. En av den svenska lyriska modernismens pionjärer; inspiratör till poeter som Gunnar Björling och Elmer Diktonius. Influerad av fransk symbolism, tysk expressionism och rysk futurism, har Södergrans dikt också en för svensk poesi ovanligt internationalistisk prägel. Hennes mest omtalade tema är det feministiska, som har sin särart genom influensen från tyske filosofen Friedrich Nietzsche; inte minst övermänniskoidealet.
