Begin september 2010 maakt auteur/dichter/performer Bart Chabot in het tv-programma 'Pauw & Witteman' bekend dat er bij hem een brughoektumor (een soort hersentumor) is geconstateerd. Je gaat er niet dood aan als je je laat behandelen, kreeg hij van zijn arts te horen. Om van de tumor af te komen, komt Chabot voor een moeilijke keuze te staan: opereren of bestralen. Opereren betekent verlies van het gehoor en evenwichtsorgaan. Na veel wikken en wegen kiest hij voor een eenmalige intensieve bestraling, die hem een enorme dreun bezorgt, maar gelukkig wel herstel brengt. Chabot publiceerde in het Algemeen Dagblad, editie Haagsche Courant het feuilleton 'Kopzorgen' over de eerste verschijnselen, diagnose, verloop en de behandeling van zijn ziekte. Fragmenten in dit boek zijn eerder verschenen in dat feuilleton. Aangrijpend, indringend zeer persoonlijk relaas, nuchter en met humor geschreven.
