La XX Reunión de la Asociación Interdisciplinar José de Acosta (ASINJA) tuvo lugar del 15 al 19 de septiembre de 1993 en el bello marco del Palacio Heredia junto al Hospital de San José de los Hermanos de San Juan de Dios en la periferia de la ciudad de Málaga. El tema de la Reunión fue Europa. Raíces y horizonte. Su desarrollo se estructuró en seis ponencias, la primera de las cuales fue dedicada a las raíces cristianas de Europa y la segunda a la emergencia del fenómeno científico; las otras cuatro consideran temas modernos: el siglo XVIII, colonialismo e inmigración, la pervivencia de los mitos europeos, y la filosofía y teología de la segunda mitad del presente siglo. Aunque, naturalmente, el hecho de la Unión Europea ha sido decisivo para la elección de este tema, se ha prescindido en esta Reunión de los aspectos políticos y económicos actuales.
