Johann Christian Friedrich Hölderlin wurde am 20. März 1770 in Lauffen am Neckar geboren, er starb am 7. Juni 1843 in Tübingen und zählt zu den bedeutendsten deutschen Lyrikern. Sein Werk nimmt in der deutschen Literatur um 1800 eine selbstständige Stellung neben Weimarer Klassik und Romantik ein.
