Gordiano Lupi nel 2008 rileggere il racconto e usa il personaggio femminile per scrivere un romanzo che racconta anche la figura storico-leggendaria di Alessandro Appiani. Un giallo serrato dai risvolti fantastici ambientato tra Salivoli e Piazza Bovio, persino in via Garibaldi e in via di Malpertuso. Finale a sorpresa, come da tradizione mistery. Il romanzo nel 2023 è diventato un film girato da Stefano Simone, che è uscito prima del libro.
