Hij gaat in het boek in gesprek met Simone Weil over zijn eigen zoektocht naar `lichter leven . Simone Weil (1909-1943) was een mystica die na de oorlog beroemd werd met haar boek Zwaartekracht en genade. Zij hield niet van zweven. Enerzijds had zij goddelijke liefde ervaren, anderzijds beschreef ze hoe de wereld door meedogenloze wetten wordt geregeerd.
