Sommaren 1994 reser Olov Svedelid till S:t Petersburg, där han av vänner rekommenderas att ta in på Grand Hotel Europe. Tanken är att han under sin resa ska samla information och inspiration till en kommande roman. Istället förälskar han sig i hotellet och bestämmer sig för att helt byta projekt. Resultatet är novellsamlingen "Öden på hotell", där samtliga berättelser utspelar sig på just Grand Hotel Europe under en vecka i juni. En del av karaktärerna är påhittade, medan andra är alldeles verkliga, och vi får träffa både gäster och anställda. Välkommen in på Rysslands första femstjärniga hotell - här väntar en oförglömlig vistelse! Olov Svedelid (1932-2008) var en svensk författare från Stockholm. Han skrev framför allt deckare och nådde stora framgångar i sitt oerhört uppskattade och breda författarskap.
