Sörmark var chefredaktör för flera stora tidningar, bland annat Aftonbladet och Hemmets Journal, och förlagsdirektör för Allers förlag. Sörmark skrev ett tiotal böcker, däribland ett antal framgångsrika deckare om polisintendenten J. P. Ullman.
