A surprising story that reveals its true nature as the true nature of area X is revealed. The narration seemed odd at first but improved or became more suitable as the book went on

"Annihilation" is a very special book. The writing is a bit confusing at times, as there are no names used in the book, only titles like "The Psychologist". I watched the movie before listening to the book. Both, the movie and the book, are really interesting, but don't share exactly the same plot. The narrator uses a very monotonous voice, which is fitting for the narrative. If you like horror about scientific explorations, cosmic horror and are in the mood for a slower plot line, I highly recommend! Overall 3.5 Stars, because of the pacing and sometimes confusing narrative. Looking forward to the next books in the series!

This is my second time reading Annihilation, but first on audio. I loved the narration, and enjoyed the strange, beautiful weirdness of the story as much as the first time, if not even more. I think it helps that I have read the full series too. I can’t wait to reread the others, and read the new, fourth book.
