I loved the double storylines about Opaline and Martha and how their stories intwined. Repressed female characters push back against domineering males and survive tragedy. I love the mystical element and I absolutely loved the references (and almost meeting) the famous modernist writers I read at uni all those years ago. The best book I’ve read in a long time! I want to visit the lost bookshop and I’d love a cup of tea with Madam Boden.

The chosen narrators were a great fit to the novel, though I do recommend speeding up the audiobook as I found they talked quite slowly.Boek★4
