THIS IS ONE HELL OF A STORY.
IT’S JUST NOT HERS TO TELL.
When failed writer June Hayward witnesses her rival Athena Liu die in a freak accident, she sees her opportunity… and takes it.
So what if it means stealing Athena’s final manuscript?
So what if it means ‘borrowing’ her identity?
And so what if the first lie is only the beginning…
Finally, June has the fame she always deserved. But someone is about to expose her…
What happens next is entirely everyone else's fault.

the perfect voice for such an unlikeable character

Waaaaay too much time spent ranting about Twitter. It was so hard not to hear the author's own voice filtering through and it really took me out of the book. RFK is a great writer but this book needed editing down.

I want to use the word 'interesting', but as Juni criticised, it's a bit of a lame and lazy word to use. However, it really was interesting, I've never read a book with such a premise. It was so complex, and you end up questioning who really is in the wrong? Though it was funny and silly, it was also really serious at points which I enjoyed. It really reflected reality, but also highlighted points about diversity in the literay world. It made me think, and that's what I think is a marker of a really good book. I ended up feeling sympathy for all the characters in ways. Overall, this novel can be read as a light satire, but it also has a lot of deeper themes, and it dances between both elegantly. I loved the plot completely, it was so fascinating! Athena's death, then Juni stealing her work was exciting, then all of the stuff that happened afterwards was so perfectly done in such an exciting way.

Loved it! I’m a casual book listener, never think much about what the book is trying to say or social commentary and just enjoy the story; this book however had an amazing way of making me do both and it being an incredible pleasant experience too!
