Alistair Maclean is a soldier in the employ of Lee's Regiment and an agent of Bonnie Prince Charlie at the height of the Jacobite rising of 1745. Amidst seeking support from the English Grandees for his masters cause, he finds himself embroiled in twisted web of deceit and betrayal that lies in the very heart of the Jacobite cause.
