"Manalive" is a novel composed by G.K. Chesterton in 1912. The protagonist is called Innocent Smith and is a rather eccentric man.The first part of the book focuses on Smith's arrival and stay at "Beacon House" and the unsettling riddles he is subjected to by the locals.In the second part of the book, Mr. Smith is forced to wait anxiously for a court decision: in fact, the protagonist is accused by a scientist and a criminology expert.The book begins with Mr. Smith who seems to do nonsense or, in any case, starting from a completely different perspective from the perspective of ordinary people, of the majority of people.
