Hon är en flerfaldigt prisbelönt och översatt poet, romanförfattare och litteraturkritiker. Hon har även grundat och driver det inflytelserika poesiförlaget La Bella Varsovia. Maria Nääs översätter från spanska och engelska. Hon har bland annat översatt Roberto Bolaño, Alejandra Pizarnik och Federico Axat till svenska.
