- I loved the plot and characters for this one! The idea of the Obeah and the magic system in Massama were intriguing and I loved the sass between Yeerin and her Obeah! I would've loved a little more world building/depth in some areas and struggled a bit with the 3rd person POV (but that's just a me thing). Overall I'd give it 3.75 stars and am keen to read the sequel!

Re: the narration- this wasn't as strong because the accents for each character weren't consistent and I didn't love the way some of the characters sounded, but the prose was read beautifully!Book★4

- The narrator really didn't do these characters justice. The story and worldbuilding is interesting and captivating, buy if you can, I would avoid the audibook.

The world created is beatiful but it feels like this hole first book is a setup for a story instead of a story. A lot happens but for some reason im not that invested. All the caracters stay kinda superficial. Which is 2 bad because i liked the start and the relationship between the sisters.Pre-nap read
I liked the setup of the passionate relationship that she left behind and is trying to return 2 for the first part of the book. However it is all lacking depth for me.
Which is probably why this clifhanger to hold me over and make me exited for the next book does nothing for me either.
I think the book did just not have enough time to build this complicated world and fill it with this manny caracters and give them depth as well.
The author gave it a good effort but in my view just tried to do to much at ones.Book★3
