Vågen

Pammy och Lyle Wynant är ett snyggt och välmående Manhattanpar. De tycks ha allt. Men under den perfekta ytan molar tristessen, som leder dem bort från varandra och ut i skilda men lika fatala äventyr. År 1951 spelas en basebollmatch i New York som skulle bli legendarisk. På hedersläktaren sitter Frank Sinatra och FBI-chefen J. Edgar Hoover. Under matchens gång får han besked om att ryssarna genomfört sin första atombombsprängning. Det fantastiska sista slaget i matchen skickar bollen högt upp på läktaren och en svart tonåring som plankat in på matchen lyckas smita iväg med den en enorm trofé som får sin egen historia i denna stora skildring av det amerikanska samhället under 1900-talets andra hälft.Det handlar om storpolitik och det kalla kriget, Vietnam och atombomber, teknisk utveckling och växande sopberg och om svarta och vita. Det är en söndag 2022, och på Manhattan gör man sig redo för att se Super Bowl när all digital kommunikation plötsligt bryts. I en lägenhet möts fem människor som fyller tystnaden med ett samtal som rör sig in mot existensens innersta rum: Vilka är vi egentligen när bruset försvinner? Vad innebär det att vara människa i en värld som vår? Tystnaden skrevs innan Covid-19 tog över världen, men dess handling speglar på ett spöklikt sätt vår tids undantagstillstånd. Sie ringen, mit wechselnden Positionen, um die Entscheidung, ob das Leiden beendet werden soll oder ob Alex das Recht hat auf seinen eigenen Tod. Unter dem Titel Love-Lies-Bleeding wurde das Stück im April 2006 im Steppenwolf Theatre in Chicago uraufgeführt.

Den faldende mand

En Super Bowl-søndag i nær fremtid skal fem mennesker mødes for at se kampen i en lejlighed på Manhattan. En pensioneret fysikprofessor og hendes mand samt en af hendes tidligere elever er der allerede. De venter på et par der er på vej med fly fra Paris – en flyrejse der viser sig at blive meget dramatisk. Pludselig bliver alle digitale forbindelser afbrudt, der er sort skærm på både TV og mobiltelefoner. Der må være sket en katastrofe, men ingen kender omfanget af den, eller ved hvad der er sket. Mens vennerne venter taler de sammen – om sorte huller og Einsteins relativitetsteori, om mærket på en yndlingswhisky og et observatorium i det nordlige Chile. I virkeligheden taler de om hvad det vil sige at være menneske. Med et nyskrevet essay om verden anno 2021: MANDEN VED VINDUET (dateret april 2021), der bringes som efterord.

Stilheden

Dybt utilfreds med udfaldet af Cubakrisen beslutter nogle afdankede CIA-agenter at iscenesætte et mislykket attentat mod præsident John F. Kennedy. De planlægger at attentatforsøget efterfølgende skal tilskrives Fidel Castro for på den måde at skabe modvilje mod den amerikanske udenrigspolitik. Lee Harvey Oswald, en falleret marinesoldat, bliver udvalgt som attenetatmand. Han har længe været fascineret af Karl Marx, boet i Rusland og har derudover været aktiv i uddelingen af oplysningsmateriale til fordel for Cuba. Men Oswald er vægelsindet og trods presset fra agenterne kan han ikke beslutte sig til, om han vil være med eller ej.
