More of a very long rant than a book. We get it you hate having your speech criticised and being told what you can and can not say, and people being rewarded for the wrong reasons, but there was little substance beyond this one idea. Whilst I would put up with people I know ranting and being polite to those I don't know in person, I wouldn't choose to listen to hours of ranting in my own home. This book is essentially Twitter: the Novel.

I don't know Shriver's personal politics, but I feel like there's so many layers to this book that people on either end of the political spectrum could benefit from reading it. On the surface, it's messy as shit, like if someone turned trolling into a book. But on a deeper level, the book shows the extremes that societies can sink to when people are more obsessed with catching each other out for being "bad" than they are with actual governance.
