I love the Kingsbridge Novels so much. John Lee is a wonderful reader and Ken Follet a master of a storyteller. Can't wait to go on with the next book :)

Great book! Great narrator! Highly recommend if you like to spend some time with the characters, learn history, the art of building cathedrals, power struggle between rich poor, good and evil and of course love.

A fascinating story that makes you want to know more about the period. As in all of Follet's books, l tire of the many graphic descriptions of the sex act. The story is, however intriguing and I will continue to read Follett's work. Whilst reading the book, l couldn't help trying to place the city of Kingsbridge. Of course, there may never have been any model for the city, but l wanted to find one. At first l imagined it being in Sussex or Hampshire, but other, real place names made me think it must be further west, especially as an Earl of Monmouth was mentioned so often. So then l thought Wiltshire. The desciption of the river bothered me, as it would have had to have been much larger thsn sny river there. So l moved my fantasy location further west, to the banks of the Severn River. So in my imagination l arrived st Gloucester.
