It took a while to get going but was enjoyable. The main character's flaw of trusting too easily was rather frustrating at times but I suppose that's deliberate. 3/5For the road trip

- Molly the maid is an extremely irritating character and seems very implausible . The repetition of phrases such as dead in bed really begins to grate. Although there is a little twist at the end, much of the story is predictable and it’s allowing Molly the time to realise the blindingly obvious that takes up most of the book.

- Great story with a lovely and quirky main character navigating the world alone and learning how to read other people and their expressions. Molly maid inadvertently gets pulled into the murder of a crime boss whilst trying to help so called ‘friends’. In some ways Molly is underestimated, used, dismissed and accused but Molly learns more every day and finally gets to experience real friends and found family. Heartwarming with excellent Narration by Lauren Ambrose.

This was FANTASTIC!
I think this book had a lot of mixed/negative reviews whereby a lot of people disliked it or thought it was boring, however I think this could be because people possibly mistook this book for another book called ‘The Housemaid’ which is a completely different story by a different author which is a thriller duology. This story by Nita Prose was more of a murder mystery which centres around a Maid who struggles to read social cues and misreads the intentions of others (she maybe has Asperger’s or something similar?). She finds a dead body in one of the rooms she cleans, and the story takes you through the moments leading up to that scenario and afterwards.
I definitely recommend listening to the audiobook as I felt listening to the actress made it so much more palpable as the tone of Molly’s thoughts and speech were much better understood this way. I suppose to others her dialogue and thought patterns could be perceived as monotonous and repetitive buBook★5
