It’s been an enjoyable and murder-free time for Judith, Suzie and Becks – AKA the Marlow Murder Club – since the events of last year. The most exciting thing on the horizon is the upcoming wedding of Marlow grandee, Sir Peter Bailey, to his nurse, Jenny Page. Sir Peter is having a party at his grand mansion on the river Thames the day before the wedding, and Judith and Co. are looking forward to a bit of free champagne.
But during the soiree, there’s a crash from inside the house, and when the Marlow Murder Club rush to investigate, they are shocked to find the groom-to-be crushed to death in his study.
The study was locked from the inside, so the police don’t consider the death suspicious. But Judith disagrees. As far as she's concerned, Peter was murdered! And it’s up to the Marlow Murder Club to find the killer before he or she strikes again…

- As good as Agatha Christie at her best - yes, it’s THAT good! Wonderfully narrated and packed full of twists and turns, this is crime fiction (with a large dose of humour) at it’s very best.

- Again, what another brilliant book by Robert Thorogood with amazing narration! I love the Marlow Murder Club so much, and can never predict the twists at the end. I can't wait to read the next one in the series.

- I thoroughly enjoyed the first in this series so had to pick this up! I love the characters and their development throughout the book, as well as the friendship between the three main characters. The book was engaging and kept me thinking!
The only real criticism I would have was the drawn out ending - I feel as though it could have been wrapped up a bit more quickly.
Overall, a fantastic read that I very much enjoyedBook★4

- Well, the murderer was pretty obvious right from the beginning because of one of the basic laws of detective fiction. I won’t say which one so as not to provide a spoiler. And so that sorted the “who“ but the “how” is extremely involved and, whilst ingenious, is really stretching things a bit. Everything is all wrapped up, sweet and lovely at the end. An extremely cosy, cosy crime. there are a couple of legal errors. Judges, Richard, do not have and never have had gavels. A solicitor is under no obligation to tell someone that they are not a beneficiary of his client’s will: that would be an extraordinary breach of professional confidence. I know this is got amazing, rave reviews so clearly I am an outlier.
