They were told to leave. They should have listened. The perfect opportunity…
A manor house available rent-free to house-sitters is an offer too good to miss for Cass and James, who have been saving for a deposit on their own home for so long.
Although it had been abandoned for almost thirty years, after a home invasion left almost all the inhabitants dead, it is an amazing chance for them to build their future.
But is it worth the price?
Shortly after moving in things take a sinister turn. Objects disappear and turn up in odd places, the clock always stops at the same time, the house is strangely oppressive and sometimes it feels like Cass and James are not alone.
Newington House may have bad energy, and a dark reputation. But surely there’s no reason for history to repeat itself, is there?

This book is different from my normal choice, but the clever writing twists and turns with some clever misdirection made it a hard to put down read. I very strongly recommend you give this a read

There's not a single likeable character in this entire book , past or present. The story has many layers , it was engrossing , i carried on if only if to find out the end reveal. I don't recommend , too much repetition and narrator was quite annoying.

This is a compelling and engaging read/listen. I find it challenging to provide a review without revealing any spoilers, so I will simply state that it is an excellent piece of work and well worth your time.

Book itself was ok, a bit unusual twists and turns, definitely worth listening and kept me engaged. Narration in the other hand, made it really hard to listen. Often the main character was read with “hysterical voice” half crying, it felt over baked and overacted and took focus of the book away. Panic and anxiety can be passed on to listeners in multiple different ways. Theo whole book in that style is just off putting. Made it really hard to listen.
